Just a quick question..I'm going to assume that someone here is muslim.
Due to recent events in Australia, some muslims seem a bit scared when people wish them merry christmas. Is there something better to say to a muslim during the holiday season? ...and dont say happy holidays because that sounds crap. -
I just used Google Translate! tho that doesnt say Merry Xmas!
-
Sky I dont think so there is any harm or bad about saying a muslim Merry Christmas.
Being a muslim we respect and acknowledge all Prophets(we consider Jesus (PBUH) as a Prophet).
Christmas is just a celebration of Jesus(PBUH) birth i guess.
Similarly we also celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
So there is nothing bad about it.
They probably give a different look while someone say Merry Christmas to them just because Christmas isn't much popular or you can say not celebrated as much in muslim countries as you guys celebrate it. -
Not celebrated much and not popular in Muslim countries probably because majority of Muslim countries have high rate of muslim population as compared to christians.
But still it is celebrated among the christian population.
But it is celebrated with more passion and popularity where christian population is high.
I guess i can quote Lebanon here as an example. -
thanks heis :)
I think the seige bought the community together but theres always ratbags around. Good to know merry christmas is not offensive -
As Heis said and well tbh lebanon got more muslims than christians but trust me muslims celebrate it more than christians here
