Is it a yearly thing or? I remember when I quit in 2013 it did happen once as well But missed the years between then and now
-
Actually it is a let's encrypt certificate and it is completely free.. i wonder why it did not get renewed
-
I'm a complete newb on that kind of stuff, so tell me if I'm wrong: A secured website has HTTPS in front of it? Unsecured website does not? - Sorry if I'm completely mishitting the ball..
-
To put it fast: a secure website has a valid 'Certificate' on his backend.. usually this certifcate can be bought by the likes of digicert and other certificate companies and are renewed on annual bases.. but you can get some certs like the one MD uses from a website called 'lets encrypt '
there are multiple uses for the valid cert like to know where the request is coming from, to avoid man in the middle attack, etc. -
Ok kind of clear. So basically crucial for us to play MD. Thanks

it is important for the safety of your account for sure, but to try to make is simple what happened is that his backend server (the one he sends the requests to) expects only a valid https request, but since the cert went invalid it started getting http requests so the server refused them(http trying to communicate with https).. if you want more info about it read about 'Same Origin Policy'

Oh and i forgot to answer back then: yes a secured https website has a Certificate but a non-secured one does not or has an invalid one (expired, self signed, etc.)
